FAIRFAX - LaVella Deterling, 72, of Fairfax, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010 at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township, rural Fairfax with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Scott Muske will officiate.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue for one hour prior to the time of serviceat church on Friday.

LaVella is survived by her mother, Orpha Kuester of Redwood Falls; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Ron Klement of Gibbon; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Lila and Clifford Black of Gibbon.
She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Oren Deterling on April 6, 2003; and a son, Brian Deterling on April 23, 1995.
LaVella LucilleKuester was born July 9, 1937 in Wellington Township, Renville County to Robert and Orpha (Borth) Kuester.She was a 1954 graduate of Fairfax High School. LaVella was united in marriage to Oren Deterling on May 22, 1957 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township, Renville County. After marriage they farmed in Wellington Township until retiring in 1994. She enjoyed shopping and sewing. LaVella was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.
