NORTH MANKATO - Elden G. Kamm, 75, of North Mankato died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato with Father John Kunz celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Searles with full Military Honors conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. There will be a rosary prayed at 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the Mass on Wednesday. Elden is survived by his wife, Charlotte of North Mankato; sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathan and Kristi Kamm of Fort Meyers, Fla., David Kamm of North Mankato, Terry and Amy Kamm of St. Peter; grandchildren, Joseph, Nicholas, Jakob, Sameera, Reid, Madison and Riley Kamm; sisters, LaVonne Kamm, Darleen Schmiesing both of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary Kamm of Madelia, Charles Kamm of Courtland, Richard and Linda Kamm of Cody, Wyo., Gerald and Marion Kamm of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elizabeth Kamm; and brothers, Marvin Kamm and Harley Kamm.

Elden George Kamm was born on Feb. 3, 1934 in Cottonwood Township, Brown County, to Carl and Meta (Saffert) Kamm. He attended country school in Cottonwood Township, parochial school in Searles, and then New Ulm High School in New Ulm. Elden served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957 as an engine mechanic working on B-26 and B-29 aircraft in Germany and Africa. On April 22, 1961 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Plamann at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Minneapolis. He worked at DeVac in Golden Valley from 1961 to 1966 and then went to work at Kato Engineering in Mankato. He retired in 1999. During his retirement he did maintenance work at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato for five years. Elden enjoyed carpentry work during his retirement and also enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding bike, spending time with his grandchildren and watching sports, especially the Twins and Vikings. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Cancer Society or Parkinson's Research.
