MANKATO - Robert William Sahli, age 81 of Mankato, died Friday December 18, 2009 at Mankato House Health Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Don Rauscher S.J. officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Catholic Charities. Landkamer Johnson-Boman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Robert was born on February 7, 1928 in Mahto, South Dakota. He was the son of Frank and Julia (Schmidt) Sahli. Robert was a graduate of St. Clair High School. In 1946 Robert joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan. Robert was united in marriage to MaryLou O'Brien on November 22, 1950. He attended NDSU school of Pharmacy graduating in 1953. Robert and his family lived in Sauk Centre, MN for 30 years where he owned Bushey Drug and Ben Franklin. After leaving Sauk Centre he did pharmacy relief work for many years in the Mankato and New Ulm areas.
He is survived by his wife MaryLou of Mankato; Julie (Jode) Kirk of Colombia, SC, Karen (Michael) Prasch of Lino Lakes, MN, Matthew Sahli of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Jessie, Brian, Becky, Jake, Gage, and Raven; twin brother, Rodney (Andrea) Sahli of Shoreview, MN; sister, Patricia (Warren) Bruels of New Ulm, MN; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
