Cougar girls run past Thunderbirds

CMC 58, GFW 41

MORGAN - Cedar Mountain-Comfrey defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 58-41 Friday night in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball matchup.

CMC led GFW at halftime 27-18.

CMC was led by Nicole Kerkhoff with 20 points and 16 rebounds and Kayla Mathiowetz with 12 points and six rebounds.

GFW was led by Cheyenne Briese with 13 points.

CMC (2-0, 1-0) travels to Wabasso Tuesday night and GFW hosts Sleepy Eye the same night in Winthrop.

Waseca 60,

St. James 49

ST. JAMES - Waseca defeated St. James in South Central Conference girls basketball Friday.

For the Saints, Julia Runge had 13 points and Briana Brandts had 10 points and nine rebounds.

St. James (0-2) is at Mountain Lake-Butterfield-Odin Tuesday.

Worthington 70,

Redwood Valley 46

REDWOOD FALLS - Worthington defeated Redwood Valley in Southwest Conference action Friday.

For the Cardinals, Jessica Fischer led the way with 15 points and Steph Jensen had 10 points.
