SLEEPY EYE -Irene Mary Hillesheim, 93, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye, Minn.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday and from 7:30-10 a.m. on Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

There will be a parish rosary at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 4 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with Officiant - Fr. Andy Michels. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Irene Mary Hillesheim was born on April 8, 1916, in Ray, N.D., to Frank and Susanna (Ludwig) Sherman.

She grew up and attended school in Ray, later moving to be with family in Sleepy Eye.

Irene married Clarence Joseph Hillesheim on May 5, 1938 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple made their home and raised their family in Sleepy Eye. Irene worked at Haas Bakery, Del Monte Foods and Divine Providence Community Home. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, CCW, Christian Mothers and the Divine Providence Auxiliary. Irene enjoyed baking, canning, quilting, sewing, playing rummy and solitaire with her grandkids, genealogy of her and her husband's family and spending time with her family and friends. Irene had a devotion to the Blessed Mary and also prayed Adoration for many years.

She is survived by her sons, Anthony of Sleepy Eye, Wayne of Sleepy Eye, Delbert and wife Carol (Haase) of Sleepy Eye, Kevin and wife Beverly (Current) of St. Cloud; daughters, Madeline (Bobby J.) Toups of Leesville, La., Karen (Steve) Lindemann of Willmar, Clarice (Stan) Rosin of Nicollet and Susan (Matthew) Reichard of Mt. Horeb, Wis.; daughter-in-law, P.J. Hillesheim of Minneapolis; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; siblings, Frank (Josephine) Sherman of Billings, Mont., Bob (Mary) Sherman of Choteau, Mont., Lester (Mary Jo) Sherman of Hardin, Mont., Don Sherman of Huntley, Mont., Annie Vandeberg of Missoula, Mont., Katherine Bayers of Los Angeles, Calif., Madeline Furr of Van Nuys, Calif., and Genevieve Zahller of Kalispell, Mont..

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; son, Peter; infant son; great-grandson; sisters, Loretta and Lillian; brothers, Arthur, Florian, Edmund, Melvin and Cyril.
