NEW ULM - Eleanor Linsmeier Hulke, 97, of New Ulm, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at the Divine Providence Home in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Father John Ekwoanya celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the St. Willibrord's Catholic Cemetery rural Gibbon.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday and from 7:30 until 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 5 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. To leave an online condolence for the family or to sign the guestbook go to www.mvfh.org.
Eleanor is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Schmidt of Conroe, Texas; a stepdaughter-in-law, Darlene Forbrook of Courtland; sons and daughters-in-law, Wilbert and Rita Linsmeier of Wabasso and Howard and Kay Linsmeier of Shoreview; nine grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; ten stepgreat-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; and several step great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Anton "Tony" Linsmeier, Jr., on March 31, 1948; her second husband, Theodore "Ted" Hulke on March 12, 1983; a daughter, Joleen Linsmeier on May 8, 1938; twin great-great grandchildren; brother Florentine Biebl; sister, Florence Kohn; and a stepson-in-law, Eugene Forbrook.
Eleanor Rose Hulke, the daughter of William and Mary (Gleisner) Biebl, was born on February 4, 1912 in Severance Township, Sibley County. She married Anton "Tony" Linsmeier, Jr. in 1929 in Gibbon. After his death she married Theodore Hulke in 1952 in Mankato. Eleanor was a shipping clerk at Johnson Reel and then for Landkamers Furniture Store both in Mankato. After the death of her husband Ted in 1983 she moved to live at Sunset Apartments in New Ulm. From there she moved to Ridgeway on 23rd in New Ulm and since August of this year Eleanor has been a resident of the Divine Providence Home in Sleepy Eye. Eleanor loved to cook and sew. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.
