Hanska - Lavon "Fritz" Frederickson, 78, of Madelia, formerly of Hanska, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 at the Schmucker Funeral Service chapel in New Ulm. Burial with full military honors conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard will follow at 12 noon at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Hanska.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Lavon Harlan Frederickson, the son of Frederick and Marie (Ovre) Frederickson, was born April 9, 1931 in Hanska where he graduated from Hanska High School in 1949. Fritz entered the United States Army in April 1950 serving in the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge April 22, 1953 he returned to Hanska where he drove truck for Reddmann & Williams Trucking and Mayflower. He owned and operated New Ulm Taxi for several years. He loved to travel in his RV to various places throughout the country.

Survivors include his son Bill Frederickson and his wife Julie of Lakeville; daughters, Sheryl Coates and her husband Kevin of Edina, Cindy Cook of Moville, IA, Bunny Benham and her husband Rick of Plymouth; six grandchildren, Billy and Crystal Frederickson, Amber and Branden Coates, Danny Rasmussen and Kayana Benham; fiance Sharon Sperl of New Ulm; and his best friend Carolyn Lastine of Hanska.

In addition to his parents, Fritz was preceded in death by his son Scott Frederickson.
