Marie Frechette

NEW ULM - Marie Frechette, 90, formerly of New Ulm died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009 at the Divine Providence Home in Sleepy Eye.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Father Mark Mallak celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Tuesday. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements. To sign the guest book or to leave an online condolence for the family go to www.mvfh.org.

Marie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and Thomas Sirovy of Backus, Rita and Bill Bickford of Buffalo, and Carol and Mike Goblirsch of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Carol Frechette of Shakopee and Philip and Brenda Frechette of Cedar; 16 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a sister, Alice Mance of Minneapolis; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Andy and Rosemary Schuster of Las Vegas and Victor and Bernie Schuster of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Steven, a grandson, Joseph, and by two brothers, Bob and Marcus Schuster.

Marie M. Schuster the daughter of Michael and Minnie (Biebl) Schuster was born on Aug. 4, 1919 in New Ulm. She graduated from the Holy Trinity Catholic School in New Ulm. After graduation Marie worked as a secretary first for the Holy Trinity Cathedral, then the New Ulm City Hall WPA Office and then moved to Minneapolis where she was a secretary at Honeywell.

She married Andre Frechette in 1946 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in Faribault until 1970 when they moved to a farm in rural Klossner. Marie spent all her married life being a housewife, a homemaker, and a bookkeeper for her husband's contracting business. After the death of her husband she continued living on the farm living there until 2004 when she moved to the Villa Maria Apartments in Sleepy Eye. In July of 2008 she became a resident of the Divine Providence Home in Sleepy Eye.

Marie was a member of the Cathedral, the Catholic Aid Society, and the St. Margaret's Society. While living in Faribault she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she also sang in the choir. Marie enjoyed cooking, canning, and sewing for her family.
