NEW ULM - Jerald "Jerry" Herzog, 77, of New Ulm died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldier's Rest Section, with full military honors being conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 PM Friday and 7:30 - 9:30 AM Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 6 PM Friday at the Cathedral.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Maxine Herzog of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Jim Dell of Faribault, Shelly and Bryce Boelter of New Ulm; sons and daughter-in-law, Patrick Herzog of New Ulm and his special friend Bernadette Wilson of Mankato, Michael and Linda Herzog of Alexandria; grandchildren, Alex, Adam, Ashley, Emily, Hailey, Braxton, Amanda and Mikaela; a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Shirley Herzog of Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dick Herzog;a sister, Kay Herzog; and by a nephew, Gregg Herzog.
Jerald Ray Herzog was born July 2, 1932 in New Ulm to Henry and Adela (Kopetzki) Herzog. He was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm and the Mankato Commercial College. He then worked at the Courtland State Bank in Courtland. Jerry served in the United State Army from 1952 to 1954. He was united in marriage to Maxine Simonett on May 4, 1957 at the St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Mankato. After marriage they lived in New Ulm where Jerry worked at Herzog Printing and Office Supply from 1955 to when he retired in 1994.
Jerry loved spending time with his family, going to baseball games at Johnson Park, visiting with friends at morning coffee, being involved with the American Legion, Sertoma Club and listening to old tyme music.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, St. Patrick's Council of the Knights of Columbus, Voiture 281 40 - 8, Sertoma Club and the Jaycees.
In lieu of flowers, the Herzog Family prefers memorials to the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association.
