Hanska man faces controlled substance charge
Informant buys methNEW ULM - A 27-year-old Hanska man was charged with selling a controlled substance, a second-degree felony, Wednesday in Brown County District Court.
According to the complaint, Dale R. Miller told a confidential informant he would sell him 3.5 grams of methamphetamine for $400 on the morning of Nov. 16, 2009.
An informant gave Miller $400 and was told Miller would return in a couple hours with the methamphetamine, the complaint read.
At about 11:25 p.m. that night, Miller returned with the meth in a package. He told the informant he had traveled to Iowa to buy it because his source would not meet him halfway, according to the complaint.
The informant gave Miller an extra $40 for gas before he left, according to the complaint.
The informant put the package on a coffee table in his New Ulm home, in plain view of a camera before a Brown/Lyon/Redwood Drug Task Force member took the package and camera as evidence, the complaint read.
The package contents were field tested by the drug task force. Results showed about 3.6 grams of meth, according to the complaint.
Maximum penalty for the crime is up to 40 years incarceration and up to a $500,000 fine.
