FIRST TEAM
Jenna Mettler, Nicollet, Sr. outside hitter
Mettler was an All-Valley and All-State selection this season. She finished with a team-high 323 kills and 45 ace serves. Mettler had 24 blocks, 188 digs and was 279-for-323 serving on the season.
Lexi Platz, GFW, So., Middle Hitter
Platz, the Tomahawk Conference Player of the Year, set a school record with 465 kills in a season. She also had 93 blocks and 79 digs. She is fifth on the career list with with a 42.7 kill percentage and is third with 628 career kills.
Cheyenne Briese, GFW, Jr., Outside Hitter
Briese is a two-time All-Tomahawk Conference selection and was a unanimous pick the last two years. This season she totaled 321 kills, 22 blocks, 48 ace serves and 493 digs, which is a season record. For her career Briese has a school record 949 digs and her 116 career aces is fifth-best in school history.
Stephanie Howe, GFW, Jr., Setter
Howe was an All-Tomahawk Conference pick this season. She had 212 digs, 33 kills, 31 blocks and 921 set assists. With a season to play, Howe is fourth on the career assists list with 1,291 and her 921 assists are a single-season best.
Heather Danell, MVL, Jr., Middle Hitter
Danell was a unanimous All-Tomahawk Conference selection and an Honorable Mention All-State pick this season. She led MVL with 372 kills this year and had a 4.7 kills per set average. Danell had 23 set assists, 61 blocks and served 23 aces on the season. She is third on MVL's career kills list and 10th in blocks.
Rachel Holstein, New Ulm, Jr., Outside Hitter
A captain for the Eagles, Holstein had 251 kills and 339 digs this season. She also made 32 ace serves and blocked for a total of 31 points. She was an All-SCC selection.
Taylor Meurer,
Nicollet, Jr. Setter
Meurer had 846 set assists, 49 kills and 36 ace serves for the Raiders. She also had 27 blocks, 140 digs and was 343-for-368 serving and was named to the All-Valley Conference team. Nicollet was 28-4 on the season and 9-1 in the Valley and was the Section 2A runner-up.
Tiana Runck, Springfield, Jr., Middle Hitter
Runck was a unanimous All-Tomahawk Conference selection. She led her team with 309 kills this season and achieved a spot in the top five for kills in conference play. She also made 310 digs and had an 87 percent serving average with 21 ace serves. She led her team in solo blocks with 25 and assist blocks with 89.
SECOND TEAM
Val Kloeckl,
Sibley East, Jr., Libero
Kloeckl set the Sibley East record for digs in a season with 428 this year. She has 787 career digs, which broke the school record of 687 and she still has a year to play. Kloeckl was a perfect 265-for-265 serving this season with 18 aces.
She recorded more than 20 digs in six separate matches and had more than 30 digs three different times, including a season-high 36 against Holy Family Catholic. She was an All-Minnesota River Conference selection.
Erin Evans, Sibley East, Sr., Setter
Evans is the top setter in Sibley East history as she tallied 1,706 set assists for her career. This season she had 503 assists, 33 kills, 28 ace serves and 55 digs. She is a three-time All-Minnesota River Conference selection.
Nicole Kerkhoff, Cedar Mountain/Comfrey, Jr., Outside Hitter
Kerkhoff had 274 kills and 237 digs this season. She also maintained a high serving percentage with a 92 percent average. Kerkhoff was a unanimous All-Tomahawk Conference selection.
Miranda Maasz, MVL, Jr., Setter
Maasz was an All-Tomahawk Conference pick this season. She had 650 set assists with an 8.1 assists per set average. She led the team with 42 aces and she had 42 kills, 66 digs and 20 blocks on the season. Maasz is currently fourth on MVL's career assists list.
Madeline Schmitz, St. Mary's, Sr., Middle Hitter
Schmitz had a total of 217 kills and 23 digs. She managed 77 solo blocks and 122 assist blocks. Schmitz ended the season in the top 10 for kills and was No. 1 for blocks during conference games. She was an All-Tomahawk Conference selection.
Lauren Manderfeld, NU Cathedral, Sr., Setter
Manderfeld was a unanimous All-Tomahawk Conference selection. She was not only the co-captain and team MVP this season, but also got into the New Ulm Cathedral record books when she tied the school record for set assists with 517. She also made 280 digs, 70 kills, and led the team in serving with 45 aces and 532 successful serves.
Kayla Schuette, GFW, Sr., Outside Hitter
Schuette had 349 digs, 51 aces and 63 kills. She was an honorable mention all-conference pick. Schuette, who came to GFW this season from McLeod West earned her spot in the GFW record books by serving 99 percent.
Val Lux, NU Cathedral, Jr., Middle Hitter
Co-captain for the Greyhounds, Lux led her team with 194 kills and 317 digs. She made 20 ace serves and had a 97 percent successful serving average. She was an All-Tomahawk honorable mention.
HONORABLE
MENTION
Marissa Klimmek, New Ulm, Jr., Setter
Klimmek made 440 assists and had 103 kills this season. She also had 183 digs, 37 aces, and a 91 percent serving average. Klimmek was a captain for New Ulm and is set to easily break the 1,000-career assists next season. She was an All-SCC selection.
Nevada Helget, St. Mary's, Sr., Setter
Helget was a two-time unanimous All-Tomahawk Conference selection. She came up with a 483 assists this season. She had 34 ace serves, 193 digs, and was the top server for St. Mary's.
Karlee Ilgen, BLH, Jr., Middle Hitter
Ilgen was a unanimous All-Tomahawk Conference pick for Buffalo Lake-Hector this season. She had 44 ace blocks, 192 kills and was 248-for-271 serving with 35 aces.
Kayla Mathiowetz, Cedar Mountain/Comfrey, Sr., Middle Hitter
Mathiowetz scored a total of 230 kills and 31 ace serves during 2009. She came up with 83 digs and 259 successful serves. Mathiowetz was a unanimous All-Tomahawk Conference pick.
Jessica Fischer, Redwood Valley, Jr., Libero
Fischer finished her season with a total of 438 digs, 20 aces, and 234-for-246 serving record.
