NEW ULM - New Ulm Cathedral, which finished the regular season with a perfect 8-0 record Zach Fischer honored as the Defensive Player of the Year and Denny Lux was named the Coach of the Year for the Southern Minnesota Conference.

Wabasso's Derek Riley was the Offensive Player of the Year and Springfield's Tyler Marz was the Lineman of the Year.

The Greyhounds also had six players named to the All-Southern Minnesota Conference team. Ben Forst, Frank Johnson, Kyle Fischer, Michael Glawe, Greg Genelin and Zach Fischer were selected to the team.

Runner-up Springfield had Marz, Jordan Milbrath, Colby Salonek, Josh Anderson and Kyle Thoreson named all-conference.

Joining Riley on the team was Matt Honetschlager, Derek Berg and Jon Knott. Dale McMullen, Marcus Heiling, Matt Christensen and Samson Stubbs were selected from Cedar Mountain/Comfrey.

For Red Rock Central, Dillon Imker, Aaron Furth, Zach Siemer and Nathan Mattison were picked and Sleepy Eye had Caleb Hillesheim, Andrew Geiger, Eli Krumbach and Marc Gemmil was named to the team.

Also selected was Mason Clark, Evan Ludowese and Joe Weispfennig of Buffalo Lake-Hector. Sleepy Eye St. Mary's had Kyle Krzmarzick, Scott Salfer and Joe Berdan. The rest of the team was was made up of Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin's Josh Falk, Daniel Minor and Spencer Johnson and Alex Collin and Neil McNab of Southwest United.
