LAFAYETTE - Mark Sondag, 56 of rural Lafayette, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 as a result of a truck accident near Lafayette.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte with Pastor Paul Bortnem officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 - 8 p.m. on Monday at the Bernadotte LutheranChurchand will continue on Tuesday for one hour prior to the time of the service alsoat church.

Mark is survived by his wife, Lynnette Sondag of rural Lafayette; sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Ashley Sondag of Lafayette, Chad Sondag and fianc Jenna Horak of New Ulm, Scott Sondag of rural Lafayette; grandson, John Sondag of Lafayette; sister and brother-in-law, Lorie and Henry Gieseke of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Diedre Sondag of St. George, Greg and Wendy Sondag of Searles, Mike and Geneive Sondagof Searles, Sid and LuAnn Sondag of Eden Prairie; mother-in-law and father-in-law Elaine and Sid Holberg of Gaylord.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Mark Steven Sondag was born on Oct. 26, 1953 to John and Ruby (Willaby) Sondag in New Ulm. He attended New Ulm Public School and graduated in 1971 from New Ulm High School. On September 23, 1978 he was united in marriage to Lynnette Holberg at Bernadotte Lutheran Church. Mark worked for Nicollet County for 30 years, he also workedpart time for C & J Waste for 3 years.He resided in the Lafayette area for 31 years.Mark was a member of the Jaycees for over 25 years, a Past President of the Lafayette Chapter,and was JCI Senatefrom 1996 until present.
Mark loved older Alice Chalmers tractors, especially his D-17. He also enjoyed fishing.
Mark was a member of Bernadotte Lutheran Church, the church council and many other committees at church. He was also Sunday School Superintendent.
