NEW ULM - Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School will hold its second "Spirit of MVL" Banquet on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Turner Hall in New Ulm. This event is to honor four individuals who have given to MVL of their time, talent and treasures.

Those being honored include the following:

Jim Bauer served MVL from 1981 to 1998. He initiated and coached football, basketball and track teams. He developed the athletic programs, competed in a state football playoff game in the Metrodome as well as state basketball appearances at Williams Arena and the Civic Center. MVL and its students realized success under Coach Bauer's leadership. His love for teaching, his competitive nature and get-it done attitude made him a successful coach and a well-remembered teacher. The energy, excitement, and willingness to serve that Jim Bauer portrayed as teacher at MVL, helped shape many current programs.

Marvin Henning and Loraine Henning, brother and sister, honored posthumously, were two of eight children born to William and Bertha Henning of Redwood County. They lived in Redwood County most of their lives, helping on the family farm with their siblings. They were both active members of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morgan. They dedicated themselves, including the resources God gave them, to help those in need and to support Christian education at the elementary, high school, and college levels. Marvin passed away in 1992, and Loraine joined him this summer.

Gene Rodewald has given his time talents and treasures to Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School even before there was an MVL. Gene was elected Chairman of the Area Lutheran High School Exploratory Committee in 1978, which was formed to determine interest in the development of an area Lutheran High School. Rodewald led this committee, and chaired the First Board of Directors to the opening of MVL in the fall of 1979. He has continued to hold various positions, chair various Boards, and has led by offering his expertise to many MVL Committees. He can be seen at almost every MVL sporting event most often with some of his smaller grandchildren in tow. His involvement with MVL exemplifies his dedication, and belief in full-time Christian education.

The banquet is sponsored by Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School and supporters of the Mission of MVL.
