NEW ULM - Esther Huffman, 87, of New Ulm died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 11 at the Faith United Church in Winthrop with Reverend Eric Haugen officiating. Burial will follow in the Winthrop Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 7:30 - 8 a.m. on Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Wednesday. Esther is survived by a daughter, Gail Windhorn of New Ulm; a son Steven Huffman of Dickenson, North Dakota; grandchildren, Rachel and Mark Suess, Jamy Windhorn, Tammy and Jack Bluel, Teri Huffman, Angelia Cruz, and Leota and Paul Byron; by sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Orlene and Ralph Uecker of Hutchinson, sisters-in-law, Ione Wagner of Maple Grove and Maxine Larson of Gibbon; and by a brother-in-law, Harris Fredrickson of Winthrop.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; a son-in-law, Greg Windhorn; a daughter-in-law, Jane Huffman; one sister; one brother; one sister-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.

Esther M. Wagner, the daughter of William and Adelina (Schauer) Wagner, was born on Sept. 11, 1922 in Winthrop. She attended school in Winthrop. On December 21, 1945, Esther was united in marriage to Robert Huffman in Winthrop. After marriage they lived in Winthrop for a short period of time before moving to Robert's family farm in Alsborg Township, Sibley County. They farmed the family farm until retirement in 1985 then moving to their lake home in Osakis.

In the mid 1990s, after the death of her husband, she moved to New Ulm. In 2007 Esther became a resident of Ridgeway.

She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Esther was a member of the Faith United Church in Winthrop.
