LAFAYETTE - Lillian DeBoer, 98, of Lafayette died Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2009 at the First Lutheran Church in Lafayette with Pastor Paul Bortnem officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Monday at the First Lutheran Church in Lafayette. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Lillian is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Eugene Timgren of Farmington; son and daughter-in-law, Arden and Marilyn DeBoer of Lafayette; grandchildren; Brad DeBoer,Wendy Turri, Dwight (Geni) DeBoer, Julie (Dan) Kletscher, Ross Timgren, Amy Timgren; great grandchildren; Melissa DeBoer, Amanda (Patrick) Hacker, Megan DeBoer, Vanesa Windschitl, Kasi Windschitl, Kelsey DeBoer, Ben DeBoer, Paige Turri, Ryan Turri, Samantha Kletscher, Gretchen Kletscher, Cole Stepka; a great great grandson, Collin Hacker; nieces; and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman DeBoer on September 25, 1985; sisters, Effie Anderson, Doris Peterson; brothers, Albert, Herman, Arthur and Clifford Swenson.

Lillian Rosalia Swenson was born on June 2, 1911 in Cornish Township, Sibley County to Peter Olaf and Rosa Maria (Klodt) Swenson. From 1933 to 1935 she was a hired helper on the Emil Swenson farm. On November 3, 1933 she was united in marriage to Herman Marvin DeBoer at the parsonage of Clear Lake Lutheran Church. From 1935 to 1980 they farmed her families farm in Cornish Township, Sibley County. In the early 1980's they retired and in 1983 they moved into Lafayette. She enjoyed flower gardening, baking and canning which she shared with friends, cake decorating and making corsages. Lillian was a past member of the Clear Lake Lutheran Church, where she had been baptized and confirmed, and had been a choir member, sunday school teacher and president of the WELCA at that church. She had been a 4-H leader and was currently a member of First Lutheran Church in Lafayette.
