MORGAN - After a couple of close calls in the first and second sets, the Cedar Mountain/Comfrey volleyball team seemed destined for a sweep over 10th-seeded Sleepy Eye in the Section 2A, North Subsection playoffs.

But the Indians had other plans, and they completely dominated the third set before the Cougars closed things out in the fourth set.

Cedar Mountain/Comfrey won the match 25-21, 25-22, 8-25, 25-12. The Cougars will now face Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity at 7 p.m. Thursday in Lester Prairie. The Indians end their season at 3-15-1.

The Cougars had a brief hiccup in the third set as the Indians rolled to the easy win to make it go four sets. But from there, the Cougars stormed out in the fourth set and took control early.

"At this point in the season, the girls know that they have to come out and they have to be ready," Cougars coach Megan Greene said. "It's obvious with any team, especially with Sleepy Eye when they came out all fired up.

"We can't sit back on our heels and we have to have that domination-type mentality," Greene said. In the first set, the teams traded points before the Cougars took a 13-10 lead on a hitting error by the Indians.

Sleepy Eye rallied back to tie it but the Cougars put it away at the end with a Nicole Kerkhoff kill and a service point from Corrie Tews.

The second set was much like the first with the Cougars winning before the Indians took over in the third set, jumping out to a 10-0 lead and never looking back. The Cougars came back and won the fourth set.

For the Indians, Sydney Remus had 13 set assists, seven kills and 14 digs. Carissa Hillmer had 15 set assists and Erica Jensen had 12 kills and 14 digs.

Beth Ochs had 12 set assists and three kills for the Cougars and Kayla Mathiowetz had 11 kills and three blocks. Kate Robinson had 15 digs and 11 service points.
