NEW ULM - A national, non-profit trade organization that promotes archery and bowhunting recently moved its home office from Salt Lake City to the south end of the Marktplatz Mall.

The Archery Trade Association includes manufacturers, distributors, retailers and other firms associated with archery and bow hunting.

A former New Ulm resident and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) deer biologist and wildlife resource manager - Jay McAninch - is the ATA's president and CEO.

McAninch now lives in Centreville, Va., near Washington, D.C.

"We're excited to bring our business and member services operations to New Ulm and Minnesota," said McAninch. "We have about 450 manufacturing members, hundreds of retail members, sales representatives, distributors, trade media and a variety of other members scattered around the county who will be better served by our new location."

McAninch said working on archery and bowhunting issues with state wildlife agencies will be easier from the upper midwest than from Utah.

Bruce Cameron, an avid hunter with 16 years of senior accounting experience in manufacturing and construction is the ATA director of finance and operations.

Kelly Kelly of Comfrey has been the ATA operations manager for years.

New Ulmites Lisa Roeder and Maria Lewis joined the ATA after working for businesses in the New Ulm area.

"We have a lot of members in Minnesota, so it's exciting to have our office in New Ulm, where lots of them live and work," said Kelly.

For more information, call Kelly toll-free at 866-266-2776 or 233-8131.

The ATA is dedicated to making the archery and bowhunting industry profitable by decreasing business overhead, reducing taxes and government regulation while increasing archery and bowhunting participation.

The ATA owns and manages the ATA Trade Show, the archery and bowhunting industry's largest and longest-running trade show in the world.
