Marvin “Marv” Schutt

New Ulm - Marvin "Marv" Schutt, 81, of New Ulm died Thursday, October 22, 2009, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm from an apparent heart attack. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2009 at the Oakwood United Methodist Church in New Ulm with Pastor Steve Koehne officiating. Full military honors will be conducted at the church by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard. Burial will follow at a later date in the Sioux Center Municipal Cemetery in Sioux Center, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 - 6 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30 until - 8 a.m.on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday. Marv is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of New Ulm; daughters and son-in-law, Audrey Terrell of Sioux City, Iowa and Linda and John Younce of Cedar Falls, Iowa; grandchildren, Shane and Angie Schutt and Marsha and Jason Tomlinson all of Sioux City, Iowa; great grandchildren, Karen Faye, Gage, Dakota, and Jersey; sisters-in-law, Genevieve Reynolds of Bronson, Michigan and Helen Schutt of San Diego; and by a brother-in-law, Jerry Kinnaman of Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Marsha; brothers, Richard and Gerald, his mother-in-law, and father-in-law, Gert and John Addink; a sister-in-law, Ruth Kinnaman and a brother-in-law, Herman Addink.

Marvin Gene Schutt, the son of Neal and Tillie (Den Herder) Schutt was born on May 24, 1928 in Maurice, Iowa. He graduated from the Sioux Center Public High School in the class of 1945. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1945 - 1946 when he was discharged after the war. On October 7, 1949 Marv was united in marriage to Marjorie Addink in Sioux Center, Iowa. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 7, 2009. Marv worked at the Sioux Center Creamery from 1949 to 1975 spending the last several years as the plant manager. He move to New Ulm in 1976 when he became the manager of the AMPI Butter Plant. This he held until his retirement in 1987. Marv was a member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church, a past member and president of the New Ulm Lions Club, a past member and president of the MN Dairy Processors, a current member of the New Ulm Country Club, golfing just this past week with friends, and a life time member of the Seifert Bianchi American Legion Post #132 in New Ulm. Marv loved to hunt and fish with family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all.
