MVL sweeps Indians, GFW, Nicollet win

MVL 3, Sleepy Eye 0

SLEEPY EYE - Minnesota Valley Lutheran swept Sleepy Eye 25-17, 25-19, 25-17 in Tomahawk Conference volleyball play Thursday night in Sleepy Eye.

Melissa Falk had 11 digs and four kills for the Indians, Sam McMullen had eight digs and also had four kills. Carissa Hillmer had 13 set assists and Paige Walter had five kills and seven digs for Sleepy Eye.

Offensively MVL was led by Heather Danell, who had 18 kills. Also for the Chargers was Miranda Maasz who had 22 set assists and two aces. Tarah Schoof had 11 digs and three aces and Mindy Sommer had eight digs.

Sleepy Eye (1-15-2, 0-6) hosts Cathedral on Tuesday.

GFW 3, CM/C 1

MORGAN - Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Cedar Mountain/Comfrey 25-27, 25-22, 25-16, 25-18 in Tomahawk Conference volleyball action Thursday.

For the Thunderbirds, Lexi Platz had 26 kills and Cheyenne Briese had 12 kills. Steph Howe had 45 set assists and Platz and Hannah Neuman had four blocks. Howe had 15 digs and Kayla Schuette had 13 digs. Mikell Melius finished with 11 digs and Briese had 10 digs.

For the Cougars, Beth Ochs had 19 digs, 30 set assists and 11 kills. Kayla Mathiowetz had 16 kills and Nicole Kerkhoff had 18 kills and 18 digs. Corrie Tews and Kate Robinson had 22 digs and Jessie Reel had 13 set assists and three ace serves.

GFW (16-3, 7-0) is at the Subway Tournament in Marshall Saturday and CM/C (6-2 in Tomahawk) is also at the Subway Tournament.

Nicollet 3, LeCenter 0

NICOLLET - Nicollet swept LeCenter in Valley Conference volleyball action Thursday.

For the Raiders, Jenna Mettler had 13 kills and Erin Radke had six kills.

Anna Skrien had 20 digs and Kasslin Swenson had 15 digs and Taylor Meurer had 28 set assists. Kayla Wenner had six ace serves for Nicollet (21-3).
