James E. Liebl, 63, of Lakefield, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. Burial with Military Honors was in the church cemetery.

Osterberg-Hansen Funeral Home in Lakefield handled arrangements.

James is survived by his wife Bonnie Liebl of Lakefield, a daughter, Amy Liebl; stepdaughters, Theresa Haffield and Angie Maine, both of Lakefield; five stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; his mother, Rose Liebl of New Ulm; siblings, Marge Berg of Gibbon, Ruth Helget of St. James, David Liebl of New Ulm, Diane O'Mara of Stewartville, Lois Larson of Lake Crystal, Marlene Walking of Nicollet, Phyllis DeSaer of Courtland, Linda Soukop of New Ulm and Mary Kral of St. Cloud.

James Edward Liebl was born on April 21, 1946, in New Ulm, to Louis and Rosalia (Traegner) Liebl.

He served in the U.S. Navy, including two tours in Vietnam
