Jonah & the Whales featured Saturday at Hermann’s Celebration
By Fritz Busch Journal Staff WriterNEW ULM - Amidst all the Hermann festivities this weekend, a concert featuring Jonah & the Whales will be the entertainment Saturday evening.
The band is a veteran, Twin Cities-based group that often performs in and in the Twin Cities, St. Cloud and Fargo
The four-hour, open-air concert at starts 7 p.m., Saturday at Steinhauser Park near Vogel Field House. There is no charge to attend.
The band covers many artists including Meat Loaf, The Cards, AC/DC, Def Leopard, Inxs, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Michael Jackson, Metallica, Ozzie Osborne, Chubawumpa, Duran Duran, Bon Jovi, Lady Gaga, U2, Don Henley, Christina Aguilera, Simon and Garfunkel, Queen, Prince, the J. Geils Band, The Cars, Robert Palmer, Journey, Pink Floyd, Green Day, among others.
"They're an exciting, fun band," said Terry Sveine of the New Ulm Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The band plans to perform some special music at dusk Saturday when fireworks start near the Hermann Monument.
The Peter & Paul Wendinger Band will perform from 7-9 o'clock tonight at Hermann Heights Park.
New Ulm's Bockfest Boys perform 4-7 p.m. Saturday in Steinhauser Park.
On Sunday, the New Ulm Municipal Band and the Original German Band take stage at Hermann Heights Park from 2-6 p.m.
