NEW ULM - Gail Mayer, 68, of New Ulm, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at his homeof Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Monsignor Douglas Grams celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section with full military honors conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 9-11a.m. Wednesday at the church. The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.

Gail is survived by his wife, Gladys Mayer of New Ulm; daughters and son-in-law, Mary and Tom Schroeder of New Ulm, Amy Mayer of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Kate and Andrew Schroeder of New Ulm; a brother, James Mayer of Gibbon; and by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Butch andJean Bendix of New Ulm, Evie and Curt Sorensen of Paynesville, Berton and Sherry Bendix of Courtland, five nieces and two nephews.
Gail was preceded in death his parents.
Gail Michael Mayer was born June 30, 1941 in Gibbon to Arthur and Eva (Heinrich) Mayer. He attended Gibbon Schools and was a 1959 graduate of Gibbon High School. Gail served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966. Gail was united in marriage to Gladys Bendix on February 4, 1967 at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon. He worked at Kraft Foods from 1962 until his retirement in 1998. Gail enjoyed hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting, agate hunting in Duluth, birdwatching and the outdoors. He loved spending time with his family.
