LAFAYETTE - DeLores (Mrs. Gerald) Petterson of Lafayette died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, at the Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Garry Grunzke will officiate.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Tuesday.
DeLores is survived by her husband, Gerald Petterson of Lafayette; sons and daughter-in-law, Duane and Sherryl Petterson of Rice, Brian Petterson of North Mankato; a son-in-law, Tim Woods and his wife Deb of New Ulm; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Richard Muck of Minnetonka, Darlene and Kenneth Voss of Winthrop, Myra Lee and Roy Bevis of Washington, Illinois; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Kate Peterson of Hurst, Texas, Lester "Bud" and Betty Peterson of Winthrop.
She was preceded in death by her parents,; a daughter, Denise Woods on July 26, 1987; grandchildren, Sara and Nathan Woods; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Beverly Peterson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Helen and John Larson.
DeLores Dorothy Peterson was born September 26, 1927 in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County to Dewey and Luella (Ginkel) Peterson. She was united in marriage to Gerald Petterson on February 24, 1946 at the Bernadotte Lutheran Parsonage in Bernadotte. After marriage they farmed in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County. She was very active in the WELCA at church. Delores enjoyed drop in visitors, Twins baseball games with Brian, and was a volunteer at the Lafayette Care Center. She was a great cook, baking bread, apple pies, and Norwegian pastries.
