July Fourth weekend fun-seekers have a choice of places to visit.
Sleepy Eye, Cambria, Hanska and Morton will host events including street dances, fireworks, co-ed softball games, a patriotic program plus food and drink.
NEW ULM
In New Ulm, Turner Hall Park is open to the public without charge from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The event features music throughout the day, a Kids Corner and food and beverages.
MORTON
Morton presents fireworks at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights at its 125th Anniversary & Independence Day Celebration.
Crafts, a flea market and food at the park plus memorabilia at the City Hall open at 10 a.m. Friday.
A reunion will be held from 4-8 p.m.m Friday at Jackpot Junction.
Slacker will provide street dance music from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. A brief fireworks display starts at 10 p.m.
Saturday events at Morton include the Firecracker Run at 8 a.m., noon horse show, 1 p.m. parade, 2 p.m. mini rod tractor pull, volleyball and horseshoe tourneys, bingo, 4-7 p.m. pork chop feed, 7 p.m. pedal pull, 9 p.m. program, fireworks and street dance by JAM Entertainment.
Sunday festivities are a 10:30 a.m. park worship services, noon park potluck with entertainment by Larry Mages and 2 p.m. waterball tourney.
The Renville County Museum opens at 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
Craft and flea market vendor spaces are available at no cost.
HANSKA
In Hanska, co-ed softball games begin at 6 p.m. Friday at Hanlin Field. Food and drink will be available, and old-time music will start at 8 p.m.
Softball games continue at 9 a.m. Saturday followed by fireworks at 10 p.m.
Sunday ball games continue at 10 a.m. Raffle drawings start at 6 p.m.
CAMBRIA
Cambria fireworks will be displayed at 10 p.m. Friday, preceded by a street dance sponsored by Prairie Bach Saloon & Grill.
July Fourth Cambria festivities begin with food stands opening at 11 a.m. A parade starts at 1 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. patriotic program and fancy cake auction. Featured speaker is Marshall Harris, who will reflect on past Fourth of July celebrations in Cambria, and perform on the newly restored upright grand piano. Patriotic readings will be by Jordan Poehler of Courtland.
Street dance music includes the Little Prairie Pickers at 6:30 p.m. followed by Lucky Jones and the Rambling Gamblers at 8 p.m.
SLEEPY EYE
In Sleepy Eye a Friday night street dance will be held. On Saturday, Allison Park events include buffalo burgers, other food and drink, old-time music, games plus arts and crafts, followed by fireworks over the lake.
