NEW ULM - Hildegard "Hilde" Luepke, 84, of New Ulm, died Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Grant Bode officiating. Burial will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery rural Courtland. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23 and from 7:30 - 8 a.m. on Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Wednesday.

Hilde is survived by her sister, Alice Groehler of Winthrop; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Joyce Luepke of Courtland; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, who were all treated like her own children. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Edna Bode, Verna Bode, Ardella Maas; brother, Ray Luepke; sisters-in-law, Muriel Luepke, Amelia Luepke; brothers-in-law, George Bode, Carl Bode, Delmar Groehler and Wilford Maas.

Hildegard Verla Luepke was born on June 4, 1925 to Frank and Selma (Rodewald) Luepke at their home in rural Courtland where she made her home until 1998, when she moved to New Ulm, most recently to Ridgeway on German. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Courtland. She attended school at District #59 in Brighton Township. She joined Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm in 1950 and was a member until her death. Hilde worked for several neighbors and relatives during her youth and was later employed at various factories in New Ulm for 52 years. Beginning in 1948, she worked at The Wear Well Garment Factory for 10 yrs., Tactronics for 10 yrs., John Oster, 3M for 10 yrs., Windings, Courtland Saw Mill and Hardees. After retirement, she did a variety of volunteer work in New Ulm.

Hilde enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cards and bingo, and traveling the world with friends, including Germany, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and Alaska.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.
