SLEEPY EYE - Anna B. Petermann, age 92, of Sleepy Eye died on Friday, June 19, 2009 at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Service will be held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye on Thursday, June 25, at 11 a.m. The Clergy will be Pastor Kevin Draper. Interment will be in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at church on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Anna was born on June 7, 1917 in Prairieville Township, Brown County, the daughter of Lars and Kirsten (Ostergaard) Paulsen. She grew up and attended District 58 country school and graduated in 1935 from Sleepy Eye Public High School. She continued teacher's training at Sleepy Eye Public School and graduated in 1936.
She was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Evan. Anna married Gilbert Petermann on June 18, 1939. She was a teacher at District 30 country school prior to marriage and continued to teach for two years after she married Gilbert. Anna then became a homemaker, living on the farm until 1979 when she moved to the home she was born in, in Evan. Anna moved to Ross Park Apartments in 2003 and later to Divine Providence Home in 2008 where she enjoyed playing bingo. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. She was awarded the Outstanding Senior Citizen Service Award. Anna was a 4-H Leader, member of Ladies Aid, Branch AAL member and officer for 37 years, Sleepy Eye Senior Citizens, Sleepy Eye Historical Society, volunteered at the Treasure Haus making rugs out of jeans, cutting over 400 jeans. She enjoyed playing cards with Evan ladies, embroidering dishtowels and playing scrabble.
She is survived by sons, Richard "Pete" Petermann of Evan and John "Jack" Petermann, daughters, Karen Beltz of Atlanta, GA, and Kala (John) Hannay of Sleepy Eye, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and sister, Pauline Schackel of Evan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gilbert in 1981, great granddaughter, Jordan Jennings, brothers, Paul, Christian and Clifford and sister, Marie Pinneo.
