Wabasso places five on All Conference team
The Wabasso softball team which placed fifth at the Class A state softball tournament, had five players selected to the Tomahawk Conference All Conference team.
Chantel Salfer, Ashley Fennern, Andrea Rohlik, Kayla Frank and Tori Altermatt were all selected for the Rabbits. New Ulm Cathedral also had five players selected.
Kaitlin DuChene, who was also named the Player of the Year in the Conference, was honored for the Greyhounds. Katie Larson, Amy Berg, Kasey Bode, and Kate Bock were also named for the Greyhounds.
For Sleepy Eye, Sydney Remus was selected along with Marissa Klabunde and Shannon Heitz of McLeod West. Angela Gewerth and Ashley Schumacher of Comfrey/Cedar Mountain were also selected along with Springfield's Katie Timm and Cheyenne Platz. Liz Tauer of Sleepy Eye St. Mary's made the team along with Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop's Kristi Kalk, Johanna Forst, Rachel Schweiss and Chelsey Vorwerk. Minnesota Valley Lutheran's Mashaye Wilson was also picked.
Honorable Mention selections include New Ulm Cathedral's Leah Eckstein, Wabasso's Alonna Baune and Morgan Samyn, McLeod West's Kellcie Farenbaugh, Amanda Nordby and Jamie Katzenmeyer, C/CM's Laura Eischen and Laura Carnell, LoRel Christensen of Springfield, Nevada Helget of St. Mary's, Andrea Biedenbender of MVL, Kelli Johnson of Sleepy Eye and Brittany Lade of Buffalo Lake/Hector. John Heitz of McLeod West was named the Coach of the Year.
