Traffic accident claims life of rural New Ulm man

RURAL HANSKA - A 50-year old rural New Ulm man, Kurt Odegard, died at the scene of a one-vehicle rollover accident Saturday evening near Hanska.

The accident was reported at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday at 155th Ave., Linden Township Section 19, according to the Brown County Sheriff's office. Odegard was driving a 1993 Dodge pickup.

A passenger, Nicholas Luepke, 18, of rural New Ulm, was taken from the scene by Madelia Ambulance to the Madelia Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and held for observation.

Victims were extricated by Hanska Fire Department. North Memorial Air Ambulance was also dispatched to the scene. The crash is under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol and the Brown County Sheriff's Office.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Schmucker Funeral Service.
