NEW ULM - The Heart of New Ulm project is in full swing with more than 1,100 community residents having been screened already in the first month of screenings. The project aims to reduce and eventually eliminate heart attacks in New Ulm.
The first critical stage of this program is mass heart health screenings taking place all summer and into the fall with the goal of screening every adult in the New Ulm zip code. Screenings continue at a fast pace with one scheduled almost every day in June. Most of the June screenings are taking place at businesses in town, along with two public screenings: Friday, June 19 from 7 - 11 a.m. at the New Ulm Community Center, 600 North German Street; and Saturday, June 20 from 7 a.m. - noon at New Ulm Medical Center (NUMC), 1324 Fifth North Street, in the Auditorium - enter from the third floor parking lot in the back of the building. Pre-register by going to www.heartofnewulm.org or calling 507-233-1945.
