NEW ULM - The United Way of the Brown County Area announces that Donna Lambrecht has agreed to serve as its new Executive Director.

She will replace current director Laurie Heron, who is moving to Iowa with her family.

Assuming this position is an extension of Lambrecht's commitment to the community, which has been demonstrated by over 25 years as a central member of the retail sector and as a volunteer for countless community organizations.

"This position is a great opportunity to expand my commitment to Brown County," Lambrecht said. "Though Lambrecht's Gifts will always be an important part of my life, I am excited to shift how I channel my passion for the community. Whether through Board service or through hosting an internal campaign, I have always supported the United Way because of the essential impact it has on our community. It's exciting to be able to devote my energies to it on a full time basis."

The United Way is gearing up for a particularly important annual campaign. Reports from social service organizations and United Way partner organizations demonstrate the increasing need for United Way funds. Lambrecht is excited to take on the challenge.

"One of my highest priorities is to get to know Springfield, Comfrey, Hanska and Sleepy Eye better. I am excited that we have Board members in each of these communities who will help me continue to address their needs," Lambrecht said. "I encourage people throughout the county to contact me with any questions or concerns. I only know as much as people tell me."

Lambrecht has volunteered with the New Ulm Area Foundation, the New Ulm Business and Retail Association, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the New Ulm High School Music Boosters, New Ulm Retail Development Committee and a variety of other community organizations. She was awarded the Athena Award in 1999, an annual award for a female community leader who demonstrates service above self. Lambrecht's was awarded the New Ulm Industry of the Year in 2004. Lambrecht also graduated from Network New Ulm.
