Sanborn man dies in farm accident

SANBORN - A Sanborn man died in a farm accident Sunday morning, according to the Redwood County Sheriff's Department.

Gene Loren Leopold, 57, was declared dead at the scene of the tractor rollover accident.

Authorities responded to a 911 call indicating Leopold was pinned under the tractor. It appeared Leopold was attempting to dig out a large rock in the field to the west of his residence. His Case MK110 loader tractor stuck another large rock, causing the tractor to roll on its left side. The door of the tractor's cab was open, and Leopold was halfway ejected and consequently pinned between the tractor and the ground, according to information from the sheriff's department.

The accident, which occurred in Charlestown Township Section 21, remains under investigation.
