CLEMENTS - Darold Ewald Siebert, 84, of Clements, Minn., died on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Springfield Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 23 at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and will continue from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 24 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield on

Service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 24, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. The clergy will be Pastor Mark Johnson. Interment will be at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.

Darold Ewald Siebert was born Dec. 8, 1924, to Ewald and Luella (Henslin) Siebert in Brookville Township in Redwood County. He served in the U.S. Army from August 12, 1944, until August 29, 1946, and was stationed in Japan.

On Oct. 16, 1949 Darold married Ellner (Timm) at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. He was employed as a lineman with Redwood Electric Cooperative in Clements from 1947 until 1987.

Darold was a 42-year member of the Clements Volunteer Fire Department, a life member of the American Legion and served as commander for several years. He was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. He enjoyed puzzles, pitching horse shoes, and playing in several local bands. Darold has been a resident at St. John Lutheran Home since November of 2008.

He is survived by his wife Ellner; son - Charles (Debbie) of Eden Prairie, MN; daughters - Sue (Jim) Kruse of Sauk Rapids and Janis (George) Erickson of Springfield; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding Darold in death were his parents; son - Larry; a sister - Dorothy Burginger; and brother-in-law Norbert.
