Election questions need answering
It is five months and counting now since Minnesotans cast their ballots for the U.S. Senate election, and we still don't have anyone sitting in the vacant seat in the nation's Capitol. Minnesotans are growing impatient.
Still, there are serious questions being raised by the Norm Coleman campaign. Thousands of absentee ballots were rejected in some counties that would have been accepted in others, says Coleman. Was it inconsistent application of rules? The three judges who are hearing the post-election lawsuit brought by Coleman have issued rulings that allow some of those ballots back in, but not others that Coleman thinks should qualify.
Whether Coleman or Franken ultimately takes the Senate seat is a big issue, but so is the idea that Minnesota's absentee voters get a fair shake. Their votes should be counted if they follow the rules, no matter which county they live in.
Coleman is planning on appealing the upcoming court decision to the Minnesota Supreme Court. He deserves, and Minnesota deserves, answers to his questions. Minnesota can and should do more to assure all who want to vote get to do so.

Exactly! How can one count be one way, then the number is different on the next count? Makes one wonder if any of past elections were counted accurately... Franken has hardly won by a landslide here and would likely pursue something similar if it was decided he had fewer votes.

middleclassworker...Why not count all the ballots? It doesn't really matter who finally fills the seat, the Democrats control both houses of Congress anyway. What does matter is the broken process of counting ballots. Shouldn't they get the same number every time they count? If not, the system is broken. Your bias against the Republican party does nothing to make the situation right for next time. What ever 'job' anybody is offered based on the outcome of this recount is irrelevant.

Lets face it...the objective of the Republican party is to keep Franken out of office as long as they can...even though they know that Coleman will not be declared the winner. They will reward Coleman for his efforts by awarding him a high seat on the Republican National Committee. This is the same sneaky politics as usual.
