NEW ULM Gladys Orlene Hottman, 86, of New Ulm, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 30 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Rev. Joyce Tollefson Capp officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Hanska Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hanska.

Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Gladys Orlene Marstone, the daughter of Ole and Gena (Helling) Marstone, was born March 23, 1923 in Hanska. After graduating from Hanska High School, she attended the Mankato School of Business. She worked as a secretary in Mankato and then in St. Paul for the State of Minnesota.

Gladys was united in marriage to Garald R. Hottman on April 19, 1947 at the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in New Ulm where they raised their family. Gladys worked for B.F. Goodrich in New Ulm for a time. Her husband died April 2, 2003. Gladys was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in New Ulm, the ALCW, Hospital Auxiliary and the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, camping and fishing.

Survivors include her son, Mitch Hottman and daughter, Robyn Hottman, both of New Ulm; grandchildren, Brandon Holcomb, and Ashley and Seth Hottman; great-grandchild, Matthew Burmia; brother, Duane Marstone and his wife Carole of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Alice Marstone of New Ulm; son-in-law, Red Holcomb of North Mankato; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her husband and parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her son, Gary in 2005; daughter, Judy Holcomb in 2008; brothers, Merle and Orville Marstone; and sister, Charlotte Marstone.
