NEW ULM Roderick Kleinfehn, 89, of New Ulm, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Msgr. Douglas Grams presiding. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 7-10 a.m. Friday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm. A Parish Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Roderick Charles Kleinfehn, the son of Oscar and Marie (Selensky) Kleinfehn, was born March 21, 1919 in West Union, MN where he spent his youth and attended West Union Country School. Roderick was united in marriage to Leona Bueckers on April 27, 1943 in Freeport, MN. Together, they farmed in West Union until 1966 when they moved to New Ulm. Roderick was employed as a custodian for New Ulm Public Schools until retiring in 1979. After retirement, he drove a school bus part-time for ten years. Roderick enjoyed cars, fishing and playing cards. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Survivors include his wife Leona of New Ulm; daughters, Ramona Jentz and her husband Steve of Fairmont, Sharon Stroeing and her husband John of New Ulm; five grandchildren, Stacy (Jentz) Berg and her husband Shawn of Fairmont, Brian Jentz and his wife Geraldine of Great Britain, Cari (Stroeing) Altmann and her husband Patrick of Kenosha, WI, Craig Stroeing and his wife Jennifer of Faribault, Timothy Stroeing and his wife Lisa of Wadena; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Roman Kleinfehn of West Union, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Vincent Kleinfehn.
