NEW ULM - The New Ulm City Council will hold public hearings tonight on the city's 2009 utility, street and alley improvements, as well as the 2009 Municipal State Aid System improvement project.
Following the hearings, the council will be asked to approve both projects, starting the bid letting process for each project.
The council will be asked to also authorize the early retirement of the city's portion of the Brown County Law Enforcement Center bonds and General Obligation Improvement Bonds, Series 1999.
The council will be asked to accept Brown County's interest in the old CSAH 27 right-of-way from North Highland Avenue to the west property line of the New Ulm Airport Subdivision.
A Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration grant to supply funding to the New Ulm Police Department for prevention education and efforts for Brown County also is on tonight's agenda for council approval.
The application of Lisa Langer and Brad Altmann for a variance in constructing a dwelling to within 10 feet of the rear property line on a lot located at 1300 Oak Street is before the council for action.
The council meets at 7 p.m. in city hall.
