JORDAN - The New Ulm wrestling team ended their season with a 65-9 loss to No. 1 seed Scott West in the Section 2AA meet Thursday.
New Ulm advanced to wrestle Scott West by defeating St. Peter 41-26.
Against St. Peter, Sam Sletta had the quickest pin on the night with a fall in 24 seconds at 140 pounds. Adam Dauer had a pin in 3:27 at 189 and Eric Ellanson earned a tech fall at 145. Cole Cihak, Luke Derksen and Luke Schmit also picked up wins for the Eagles.
Scott West won the first 12 weights to jump out to a 65-0 lead. Ryan Hoffmann kept it close at 103 losing an 8-6 decision to Luke Betchwars. The Panthers pinned their way to victory in the next three matches before a forfeit at 130 and a tech fall at 135 gave them a 32-0 lead.
Sletta kept it close at 140 before dropping an 8-6 decision to Paul Dvorak, then Scott West won by fall in four of the next five weights.
Pat Brinkman finally stopped the bleeding with a pin in 1:34 over Travis Hentges and Jake Schmidt earned a 1-0 win over Bruce Koepp at heavyweight.
New Ulm ends its season at 9-18 the Eagles will wrestle in the Section 2AA individual meet at Delano Feb. 28.
Scott West will face New Prague, a 41-31 winner over Waconia at 5 p.m. Saturday in Waconia.
