MVL girls defeat St. Mary’s, 64-50

MVL 64, St. Mary's 50

SLEEPY EYE - Thanks to a strong second half, Minnesota Valley Lutheran edged Sleepy Eye St. Mary's 64-50 in Tomahawk Conference girls basketball.

The Chargers were led in scoring by Heather Danell with 14 points. Mashaye Wilson added 13 points and Katie Barrer contributed 11.

For the Knights, Crissi Schewe led all scorers with 21 points. Liz Seidl chipped in 14 points.

St. Mary's led by two points at halftime but MVL came out of the break and took control. The Chargers dropped in four second half 3-pointers.

MVL moves to 9-4 (5-4) on the year. It will host McLeod West Thursday.

St. Mary's record falls to 6-7 (5-5). It will play New Ulm Cathedral Thursday.

BLH 65, McLeod West 56

BROWNTON - Buffalo Lake-Hector took down the McLeod West Falcons 65-56 Tuesday night in Tomahawk Conference girls basketball action.

Karlee Ilgen and Emily Kubesh ignited the Mustangs with 18 and 17 points respectively.

Kayla Schuette paced the Falcons with 21 points, six rebounds, and three steals.

McLeod West will travel to MVL to battle with the Chargers on Thursday night.

BLH hosts MVL on Friday.

Alden-Conger 60, Madelia 33

MADELIA - Alden-Conger ran away with a 60-33 victory over Madelia on Tuesday night in a Valley Conference girls basketball game.

Katie Hallman was the leading scorer for the Knights (8-5, 4-3) with 18 points.

The Blackhawks were led by Katie Odegard with 13 points and two assists. Sarah Pace added 10 points, two assists, and two steals.

Madelia (2-12, 0-8) is at Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Friday.

CMC 59, GFW 48

MORGAN - Cedar Mountain/Comfrey topped Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 59-48 Tuesday night in Tomahawk Conference girls basketball.

Amber Seifert led the way for the Cougars with 17 points and eight rebounds. Also for CMC, Kayla Mathiowetz had 17 points and Jaime Hanson had 12 points.

Cheyenne Briese, Kristi Kalk, and Abby Busch each scored 10 points for the Thunderbirds.

The Cougars (14-0,10-0) play at Wabasso on Saturday.

GFW (7-5) will take on Sleepy Eye at home on Friday.
