STEWART - Marietta C. Sauck, 91, of Stewart, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009 at the Buffalo Lake Health Care Center in Buffalo Lake.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Moltke Township, Sibley County with Pastor David Radtke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. on Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Saturday. To leave online condolences or to sign the guestbook for the family, go to www.mvfh.org.

Marietta is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Erwin Puch Jr. of Orlando, Florida, Pat Fischer of Alexandria, Virginia, Miriam and Arnold Gennrich of Stewart, Barbara Counihan of Omaha, Nebraska, Gloria Sauck of Arsim, Kenya, Rebecca and Robert Bowman of Omaha, Nebraska; sons and daughters-in-law, William Sauck and wife Ellen Cutrim of Schoolcraft, Michigan, John and Gayle Sauck of Buffalo Lake; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Lorimer Swanson of Minneapolis and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adolph Sauck in 1985; brothers, Clement Arthur Swanson in 1925, Henry Idalis (Dal) Swanson in 2006 and a sister, Hortense (Tenny) Anderson in 2004.

Marietta Christine Swanson was born on Feb. 24, 1917 to Henry and Ida (Anderson) Swanson in Cushing, Wisconsin.

She graduated from high school in Fairmont. After high school she went to college at St. Olaf College in Northfield and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1939. Marietta taught Home Economics, General Science, Chemistry and Physical Education at the St. Clair Consolidated School, located near Mankato, for one year.

On Feb. 17, 1940 she was united in marriage to Adolph Sauck at Trinity Lutheran Church in Northfield. Marietta also worked at the Glencoe Hospital in the housekeeping department.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, the Stewart Senior Citizens and the Grafton Extensionette Club of Sibley County.
