FAIRFAX - Roger L. Schwartz, age 71, of Fairfax, passed away Friday, October 31, 2008, at the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 6, at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with Reverend Roger Woller officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery, Cairo Twp., Renville Co.

Visitation will be 4-8 P.M. Wednesday, and 7:30 A.M.-8 A.M. Thursday, at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Roger Lewis Schwartz was born on March 15, 1937, in New Ulm, Minnesota. He was the son of Albert and Luella (Hopp) Schwartz. He received his education at St. John Parochial School and Fairfax High School, graduating in 1955.

On April 12, 1959, Roger was united in marriage to Carol May Brixen in rural Morton. They were blessed with five children and shared 49 years of marriage. After their marriage the couple resided in Bandon Township on their dairy farm. Roger was also employed as a milk tester for DHIA for more than 25 years, retiring in 2000.

When he needed assistance with his daily care, Roger became a resident of the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls on July 12, 2005. Blessed be his memory.

Roger is survived by his wife, Carol Schwartz of Fairfax, MN; children, Anne Johnson and her husband, Larry of Redwood Falls, MN, Steven Schwartz of Fairfax, MN, Daniel Schwartz of Des Moines, IA, Tracy Schaefer of Fairfax, MN, and John Schaefer of New Ulm, MN, and David Schwartz of Fairfax, MN, and Kathryn Stoll of Fairfax, MN; 7 grandchildren, Laura Johnson, Kristin Johnson, Austin Schaefer, Samantha Schaefer, Spencer Schwartz, Parker Schwartz, and Charlette Schwartz; sister, Sharon Schwartz of Hartford, WI; other relatives and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
