NEVIS - Eldon F. "Bud" Lendt, 84, of Nevis, MN at Spider Lake, died on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN.
Eldon was born on September 16, 1924 at New Ulm, MN the son of William and Bonhilda (Tessmer) Lendt. He grew up and attended school at District 10-Brown County and Sleepy Eye, Public School. Eldon served in the Merchant Marines for five years during World War II, transporting gasoline between the U.S., South America and Italy. He was united in marriage to Rosalia G. Lake on June 19, 1948 at Ely, MN. Eldon worked for Anderson and Sanitary Dairys in Sleepy Eye, MN, at Kraft Foods in New Ulm, MN as a supervisor for six years, and he did construction work in New Ulm helping build the Jefferson School, the Ladies Dorm at the Lutheran College in New Ulm and many homes including his beautiful retirement home on Spider Lake in northern Minnesota.
He was a skilled craftsman making numerous beautiful wood projects. He did chair caning, upholstering, leather tooling and wood carving. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing to old time music and playing his concertina.
He loved flowers, gardening, fishing, hunting, baking and cooking.
Eldon is a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of New Ulm and The Otto Henrickson American Legion Post #212 of Park Rapids, MN and the New Ulm American Legion.
He is survived by is loving wife Rosalia G. Lendt of Nevis, MN; a sister Algonia Wilfahrt of Sleepy Eye, MN; a brother Robert Lendt of Sleepy Eye, MN; nephews James (Gail) Lendt of Sleepy Eye, MN; Thomas (Sharon) Lendt of Eden Valley, MN; nieces Joan (Alan) Stimpert of Sleepy Eye, MN; Janet Keese of California: and Connie Lendt ofNevada.
Besides many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Florence Lendt; sisters Cleora Thurow, Irene Zimmerman, and brothers Donald and Dennis Lendt.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Ulm, MN. Pastor Sutton will be the officiant. Military Honors will be provided by the local Honor Guard Team. Inurnment will be held at the Soldiers Rest Cemetery at New Ulm, MN. Lunch will follow at the church fellowship hall. Cease Family Funeral Home of Park Rapids, MN is handling the arrangements.
