Public hearing on bonds Tuesday
By KURT NESBITT, Journal Staff WriterNEW ULM - A publc hearing on a pending bond issue for Oak Hills Living Center is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The assisted living facility is asking the county to issue $6.4 million in tax-free bonds that would fund its latest remodeling and renovation project.
Also on the county agenda:
The Auditor-Treasurer's Office is proposing the general election canvass take place on the morning of Friday, Nov. 7 in the commissioners' room at the county courthouse. Two commissioners will be appointed to the board. Commissioner Richard Seeboth is not eligible.
The Brown County Sheriff's Office is asking the county board to ratify a contract between the Sheriff's Office and General Security Services Corporation.
According to a request for board action, the corporation would be used in special circumstances to provide security for people committed to the county jail who need security for medical transfers to the Twin Cities. The contract would last for one year.
The board will vote on a proposal that could increase the tipping fee at the Brown County Landfill near Essig to $14.50 per cubic yard.
