Nancy Kokesch, owner of The Country Loft and Doll Haus in downtown New Ulm, (pictured seated at the table second from the left) recently won an award from the Southern Minnesota Tourism Association (SMTA) at the Sept. 19 annual meeting of the SMTA held in Owatonna. She won the award in the "You'll Be Surprised" category for the 'best marketing effort.' Also pictured here handing her the award is Terry Sveine, (standing on the left) who is the new incoming president of the SMTA. Nancy Quam (who is pictured second from the left standing in the back) had submitted Nancy Kokesch's nomination for her effort to get the musical artist "Prince" to come to New Ulm when he was inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame this last year. Kokesch said she will be sharing this award with the group she belongs to called the New Ulm Specialty Shop group where members share a common bond to promote New Ulm. Also pictured here are other members of the New Ulm Speciality Shop group including: Donna Lambrecht, of Lambrecht's Gifts, (seated at the table), Lynn Heuchert, of Interior Motives, (standing second from the right), and Val Besser, of Spinning Spools Quilt Shop, (standing on the right).
