Daryl J. Turbes
NORWICH, Conn. - Mr. Daryl J. Turbes of New London Tpke. passed away Sept. 21, at The William W. Backus Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born in New Ulm, Minn. on Oct. 8, 1951. He was the son of Angeline (Zander) Turbes of Crosslake and the late Ralph E. Turbes, Sr.
A resident of the Norwich area for 21 years, Mr. Turbes had been employed as Project Manager at B.A.E. Systems of Groton for 18 years until the time of his death.
He served in the US Navy for 20 years and was honorably discharged in 1991 with the rank of Sonar Tech Master Chief.
Mr. Turbes was active in Boy Scouts of America, Troop 73 in Lisbon from 1994 to 2000 and served as Scoutmaster.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his son, Victor J. Turbes and his, wife, Stephanie, of Central Village, Conn.; five brothers, Gerald Turbes (Myla) of Hanska, Lyle Turbes (Karan) of Willmar, Darvin Turbes (Kathy) of New Ulm, Ralph Turbes, Jr. (Unhee) of Aurora, Colo., and Alan. Turbes (Tami) of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, LaVonne Vix (Rodger) of St. Cloud, and Peggy Seppmann (Jadd) of Mankato; his special friend Robin Croce of Norwich, Conn.; three grandchildren, Brandon and Matthew Barstrom and Allie Root, and nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Norwichtown on Friday, Sept. 26.
