Ducks Unlimited fund-raiser

NICOLLET - The Swan Lake Teals will be hosting its 11th annual Ducks Unlimited fund-raiser anniversary banquet on Monday, Sept. 22 at the Nicollet Conservation Club.

Events for the evening include a social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m., raffles, and new games of chance followed by dinner and live and silent auctions. Ticket prices are $40 each and may be purchased in advance or at the door (seating will be limited).

The Swan Lake Teals were recently recognized for outstanding achievement by receiving the Presidential Citation Award for 2006. This award is given to those DU chapters who have excelled in compliance with expectations, efficiency, and growth in membership and revenue support.

The Swan Lake Teals were one of the 266 chapters recognized out of over 3500 DU chapters nationwide and one of the 17 chapters recognized in Minnesota.

Benefit for Roiger planned

NEW ULM - A benefit for Brandon Roiger will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Kegel Club.

A dart tournament starts at 10 a.m. and a bean bag tournament begins at 11 p.m. For an early sign-up to participate in these events please call 507-276-0891.

There will also be a silent auction held during the event.

Roiger has incurred medical bills this year due to his Cystic Fibrosis. The money raised will go towards his hospital and medication costs.

Farmamerica to hold Fall Fair Sept. 13-14

WASECA - Farmamerica will hold its Fall Fair Sept. 13 -14 Minnesota Agricultural Interpretive Center Farmamerica.

Enjoy a fun packed weekend for the entire family at Farmamerica. View the old fashioned tractors on display and demonstrations as you tour the grounds. The Corn Maze will be open.

Exhibits and activities are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. There will be Peddlers Grove Tent City both days. A draft horse pull will be held Sat. Sept. 13 and a Classic Tractor Pullwill be held on Sunday, Sept. 14.

Heritage

Society plans picnic

NEW ULM - The German Bohemian Heritage Society's picnic will be Saturday Sept. 13, at Herman Heights Park, in shelter No. 2.

The social begins at 11 a.m., with a pot luck beginning at 12 p.m. noon with array of American and German food. Coffee and juice will be provided. Bring your own eating utensils and lawn chairs.

After the meal, Kitty Jordon will speak on "Farwell from East Prussia, 1944: Flight from the Russians and adjusting to a new life away from our homeland."

After the talk, the group will be entertained by a number of concertina players and other musicians. For more information call 359-2121.

Festival Quilt Show set

MORTON - The Renville County Historical Society and The Morton Chamber of Commerce presents Morton's Scarecrow Festival Quilt Show: "Warm Traditions and Treasured Memories" on Saturday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept. 14.

The hours on Saturday will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the hours on Sunday run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show is located at 230 West 2nd St. (Hwy 19) across from City Hall in Morton.

On Saturday, Sept. 13, Heather Mulder will be giving a trunk show at 11 a.m.

On Sunday, Sept.14, Bev Proulx will be giving a presentation on quilt history.

Ms. Proulx will also be doing appraisals both Saturday and Sunday.
