Lamberton wins Region 2C title

LAMBERTON - Lamberton won the Region 2C championship with a 6-5 victory over Hanska Saturday night in amateur baseball action.

The Long Sox scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to pull out the win. Derrick Jenniges and Mike Samyn singled to lead off the inning. Jenniges scored on Matt Samyn's single and Terry Helget walked to load the bases.

Tyler Reiner drove in both Samyns with a single and Travis Kottke drove in Helget for the game winner.

Hanska scored first with a run in the first and another in the third to go up 2-0. Lamberton tied the game with two runs in the seventh. Hanska looked to put the game away with three runs in the top of the ninth but Lamberton scored four runs in the bottom half of the inning to earn the win.

Derrick Jenniges earned the win for the Long Sox as he went all nine innings and struck out eight.

Kottke was 3-for-5 and Reiner was 3-for-5 with three RBIs.

As for Hanska, Brady Mosenden took the loss allowing four runs on five hits. Eric Portner was 4-for-5 and McCabe Thordson was 2-for-4.

The Lakers drafted the New Ulm Brewers Adam Nilson and the Long Sox took Josh Hadley from Stark.

Hanska (17-15) will face the champion of Region 10C at 5 p.m. Sunday in Chaska. Lamberton (27-9) will take on the runner-up of Region 10C at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in Chaska.
