NEW ULM -William "Bill" Schreiner, 67, of New Ulm died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 23 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Father Mark Steffl celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Bill is survived by his wife, Janice Schreiner of New Ulm; a daughter and son-in-law Amy and Brent Borass of Alexandria; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Mary Schreiner of New Ulm; grandchildren, Zachary Schreiner, Noah, Sadie and Hannah Borass; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Paul Deegan of Eden Prairie, Carol and Doug Bloedel of Marshfield, Wis., Mary and Chuck Rieke of Gibbon, Barb and Joel Zimmerman of Mankato; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Paul Kotten of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by a brother David Schreiner in infancy.
William Leo Schreiner was born March 25, 1941 in New Ulm to Nicholas and Ethel (Reding) Schreiner. He attended New Ulm Area Catholic Schools and was a 1959 graduate of Cathedral High School. He was drafted in to the US Army in 1963 and served in Germany until his discharge in 1965.
Bill was united in marriage to Janice Groehler on April 29, 1967 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm where Bill joined his father in the tailoring business. His father started Nick's Custom Tailoring in New Ulm in 1951 and for 43 years Bill owned and operated this tailoring business.
Bill enjoyed fishing and baseball. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and the Seifert-Bianchi American Legion Post #132.
In lieu of flowers, the Schreiner family prefers memorials to the donor's choice.
