Gold tops Sleepy Eye

SLEEPY EYE - New Ulm Gold defeated Sleepy Eye 12-1 in five innings Monday in legion baseball action.

Aaron Lilleodden earned the win as he pitched all five innings and allowed one run on one hit with a strikeout and two walks.

Chad Mathiowetz took the loss as he went 3 1/3 innings. Mathiowetz allowed nine runs, six of which were earned with two strikeouts and three walks.

Alex Wiecherding had the lone hit for Sleepy Eye.

New Ulm was led by Zach Fischer, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs. Kyle Hague was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Nate VanRoekel was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs and Rodney Drexler was 2-for-4.

Sleepy Eye ends the season at 7-6.
