NEW ULM - David "Chopper" Roberts, 59, of New Ulm, died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at the Franklin Health Care Center in Franklin.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9 at the First Baptist Church in New Ulm with Pastor Bob Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8 and from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church.
David is survived by his mother, Hazel Gasner of New Ulm; sisters and brother-in-law, Donna and Alan Martin of Argos, Indiana, Mitzi Roberts of New Ulm; brothers and sister-in-law, Joe and Laurie Gasner of Madelia, Jay Gasner of Virginia, Jon Gasner of Minneapolis; step-sister and step-brother, Jeannie (Mrs. Vernon) Bjornberg of Shakopee and Jim Gasner of Plymouth; Judy Roberts and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, step-father, Frank Gasner; and son, Thomas Lee Roberts.
David Michael Roberts was born on December 29, 1948 to Fred and Hazel (Mayberry) Roberts in McLeansboro, Illinois. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1966. He worked for Kraft for 35 years, before retiring in 2005.
David enjoyed hunting, golf, teaching scuba diving, racing, watching cooking shows, andriding motorcycle. He especially loved to cook and read.
He was a member of the Corvette Club and the Flying Dutchmen.
